Toronto vs. Hamilton

- This game is for home adv. in the playoffs. Really can't see Toronto losing this one. They were shocked last game @ Calgary but I don't think it will carry over. Their starting QB D. Allen finally returned from a broken leg and came into the game in the 2nd half. He completed a very high % but threw a couple picks. I'll chalk this up to rust.

Simply put Toronto is a very strong home side but they can't be trusted to cover big spreads because of their poor offense. Hamilton is a improved team but they turn the ball over too much and Toronto is not a good match up imo.

Want to go stronger but just can't with this line.

Just a regular play on Toronto -6.

Toronto killed them in 1st matchup by 24 then tied in 2nd game 30-30...for what they are play for, I'd think motivation is all on Toronto...they are very up & down & expect them to cover this...not easily, but maybe 8 or 9 pts?? I'm with you....GL

Toronto tried their very best to blow their 28-0 1q lead but were able to hold on for the cover. I'm not convinced however when they play again in two weeks (same two teams will meet in playoffs) that Toronto will win again. Hamilton was able to move the ball quite and Toronto only scored one offensive TD the whole game. The difference was special teams and Hamilton's QB throwing 4 INT's. I will probably play Hamilton when the time comes...


For tonight's game I like Calgary to get the cover. I don't love the play but I feel it represents good value. BC is playing for nothing in the standings as they already have clinched the bye and home field adv. BC will start QB D. Dickenson instead of C. Printers who was injured last week. Dickenson was the starter at the beginning of the year before he got injured and C. Printers came in and tore up the league. It is really not a big deal, both QB's are maybe the two best in the league anyways. Printers is more athletic so I give him a slight advantage. BC is an offensive juggernaut and if they get going it will be difficult for Calgary to keep up. Calgary does however possess an above average defense which is why I trust they can contain BC.

Calgary is playing their second game since acquiring QB K. Jones from Winnipeg. He won in his debut vs. Toronto last week and is being looked at as the future for Calgary. Honestly I've never really thought that highly of him but he is better than what they had previous. More important he has brought a sense of hope to a team which has gone through a terrible year. His teammates respect him and it has improved morale. BC's defense is inconsistent and with no real motivation tonight maybe Calgary can put up a few points. Along with the new QB they have also brought in a new RB J. Reynolds. All year Calgary struggled in the run game (partly because they chose not to run enough) but the last few games J. Reynolds has been able to gain significant yards and it appears he is a permanent answer. He is a big back who is hard to bring down and has decent speed for someone with his style.


BC says they want to continue the momentum from last week's huge comeback victory @ Montreal but talking and playing are two different things. The bottom line is that BC has absolutely nothing to gain from this game and Calgary is a reborn team looking to finish the season strong.

Too many points in this situation for Calgary.

just finished watching the game, shouldn't have trusted that Calgary offense to score over 22 pts but at least they covered. Terrible misfortune for anyone who had the Calgary on the moneyline. BC had to convert on 3rd and 24 with seconds left to set up the winning FG.

I'm not convinced about the over as I don't believe Ottawa will hold up their end of the bargain.

Montreal is in midst of their annual collapse at the end of season. They always start the season on fire and then head into the post-season on some sort of losing streak. Ottawa is already eliminated from the playoffs after their OT loss last week vs. Hamilton. Montreal has already clinched a playoff birth. Its interesting to note this game will be played at Olympic Stadium (big O) as they prepare for the playoff game also to be played there. They expect 50,000+ fans to be on hand for this game.

Ottawa will start former Iowa standout QB B. Banks due to injuries to D. Kennedy and K .Joseph. He came in last week and looked pretty good but against a blitz happy Montreal D I'm not sure if he will be able to make quick enough reads. It seems inevitable he will throw a couple INT's. Ottawa says they will have to establish the run, but or course Montreal will know this with a rookie QB making his first start.

I have little doubts that Montreal will win this one but 14 pts is a ton. Montreal will want to put a show on for their huge crowd but their play recently has lacked intensity and I don't fully trust them to regain it in one game. I don't enjoy laying big points and rarely do so. If you are feeling lucky take Montreal, if not stay away.

I see a 34-16 type score.

Good call on the Over Winky, really got out of hand for Ottawa.

Last game of the weekend has Winnipeg visiting Edmonton. Temperatures are a expected to be at ridiculously cold levels (10-15 degrees) and light snow is also in the forecast. Usually in these conditions recievers have a hard time catching the ball and there are also numerous fumbles due to the frozen ball. This slows my pick on Edmonton. They are a great passing team who have many good recievers but their effectiveness may be somewhat negated.

Edmonton could seal up a playoff spot with a victory, Winnipeg could keep hopes alive (need to win last 2 games). Edmonton has been a massively inconsistent team this year and it is shocking to me that they have not clinched a playoff birth. Winnipeg had a mid-season burst after the coaching change but have now settled into their true form.

Edmonton is a good team (albeit underachieving this year), Winnipeg is a bad team.

However considering the conditions, I remember this field getting frozen in past years and players have great problems with traction, I will have to forget about my plays on Edmonton and the over.
